Muslims advised to make discipline, sincerity guiding principles

The AMEER (HEAD) and Missionary-In-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Alhaj Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, has urged Muslims to let discipline and sincerity be their guiding principles to ensure a successful life.

He made the call at the celebrations of the Eid-ul-Fitr at Ashongman in the Ga East Municipality in the Greater Accra Region on Monday.

According to him discipline and sincerity are undoubtedly the two great moral lessons learnt from fasting stressing that even the Holy Qur’an emphasized on it by saying, “Keep fast so that through fasting you may become righteous”.

Maulvi Bin Salih stated that despite the moral and spiritual values of the two, its principles continues to elude us as a country resulting in the inability to make progress, despite being endowed.

He indicated that most of the country’s religious, traditional and worst of all political leaders whom we have invested our trust and commonwealth lack that needed moral value called sincerity as a result are not disciplined.

These acts the Missionary-In-Charge indicated has resulted into a corrupt, misguided and almost failed nation saying discipline and sincerity are closely interrelated concepts that significantly influence both national and personal development and success.

Discipline the AMEER stated demands self-control, adherence to rules and regulations, committing to actions without an iota of compromise to achieve long term goals.

Sincerity he explained encompasses being authentic in one’s actions, it does not lie in catchy political manifestos without the slightest intention of implementing them, adding “We must make progress as a nation because it is only people entrusted with leadership are disciplined that they can hold themselves accountable, resists temptations, sinful behaviours, obedience to laws, adherence to faith and hold oneself accountable for actions and in actions because serving ones nation is a patriotic duty”.

Alhaj Bin Salih noted that discipline in religion involves obedience to divine laws as well as following the commandments or guidelines set by religious texts which may include rituals, ethical conduct and regular practices such as fasting, prayer and meditation which has the potential to help one cultivate inner strength towards focusing on spiritual goals.
