The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) have committed to deepening their relationship to advance good governance in both countries.
They stated that this would be achieved through the exchange of experiences and solutions to common challenges at the party and national levels.
This, they said would improve democracy in the two countries for the shared benefits of their people.
The chairmen of the two ruling parties, Stephen Ntim and Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, respectively, expressed these commitments at a press briefing in Accra yesterday.
This followed closed-door meetings between delegations from the two parties as part of the APC’s visit to the NPP.
The APC’s visit follows a similar one by the NPP to Nigeria last year.
Dr Ganduje said the collaboration between the two parties was essential due to the shared political history preceding their independence of their countries from colonial masters.
He highlighted the need to build upon the solid foundation laid by the heroes of independence in both countries for the benefits of the people.
On his part, Mr Ntim expressed gratitude for the delegation’s visit and reiterated the party’s commitment to the relationship.
He expressed confidence that the collaboration would yield positive results for the parties and the countries.
