Police National, Fettehman Utd book final of CRFA Middle League

The male football team of the Ghana Police Service, Police National FC, has booked a place in the finals of the ongoing Central Regional Football Association (CRFA) Division Two Middle League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tumantu Domenasi FC at the Tuba Astro Turf yesterday.
A 17th-minute close-range tap-in by striker Nathaniel Quaye was all the servicemen needed to secure their first-ever finals appearance in the Middle League.
Having been crowned champions of the CRFA Zone League, Police National FC came into the Middle League with a mission to join the Division One league next season and are now 90 minutes away from achieving that dream.
Police National FC, carrying a 100% record in the ongoing competition, has defeated Abaasa-based Frienhoff Academy 2-0 in the opening fixture, followed by a 3-1 win over debutants Debolase Young Stars, and a narrow 1-0 win over Genesis Essaman last Thursday to be crowned Group A winners and secure a semi-final berth against Tumantu Domenasi FC.
In a post-match interview after yesterday’s win, the coach of the side, Lance Corporal Daniel Oduro, said they had come this far thanks to the collective support of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, right up to the last member of the technical bench.
“We have indeed enjoyed goodwill and support from the IGP, Mr. Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB), and we promised them that we would qualify for Division One next season. We are not looking back on that. Come Wednesday, we will fulfill our promise to our heads.”
In the second semi-finals also played yesterday, Zone 4 and Middle League zone B winners, Fettehman United defeated Betenase United 1-0 through a fourth minute goal from Kwesi Arhin Asare.
Police National FC will square up with Fettehman United in the finals on Wednesday June 25 at the Tuba Astro Turf.
