‘Show commitment to maintain power’
Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been charged to show commitment and adopt measures that can secure the party to maintain political power in 2024.
“You must shun the needless tension mounted amongst yourselves and work for the progress of the party to maintain power and continue the development agenda of the government.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, NPP Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South stated that indiscipline among some members and supporters of the party was an issue likely to ruin the chances of the party in future elections which must be avoided.
Addressing delegates of the party at the Annual Delegates Conference at Kodie in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region, he observed that political party staying in opposition was not the best for its growth and development.
“The needless tensions, bickering, wrangling and backbiting must be addressed to be able to break the eight-year political term legacy to enable the NPP to continue to rule the country with progressive agenda of infrastructural projects to improve livelihoods.
“NPP in opposition again is not something we should ever wish for, because political party in opposition is going through hell. We must work hard in unison devoid of distractions for the NPP to gain political dominance over other political opponents,” Odeneho Appiah cautioned.
He expressed worry about low turn-out in the Constituency during the 2020 elections which did not help in recording massive wins at the polling stations and appealed to party faithful, sympathisers and well-wishers to lead by example and motivate members, supporters, first-time voters and floating voters during elections to compel them to vote massively for the party.
William Owuraku Aidoo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre Constituency, called for peace, unity, harmony and cohesion among members, especially polling station officers to ensure the party’s growth and development and assured constituents actions were taken to execute all development projects in the area. -GNA
