Tafsiliya school at Nima gets ultra-modern classroom block

The Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly (AEMA) on Thursday handed over an ultra-modern two storey six-unit classroom block to Tafsiliya Basic School at Nima, in Accra.

The classroom block with ancillary facilities is to improve teaching and learning in the municipality.

At a short ceremony to inaugurate the facility, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ayawaso East, Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams, said the project formed part of the government’s agenda to provide good infrastructure for quality education in the country.

She said the project which was partly funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund sought to address the many challenges that confronted the educational sector in the municipality and to meet the government’s target on education.

“Considering the important role education play in human and national development, the Assembly under my leadership decided to commit much of its resources to the development of educational infrastructure in the Municipality.

“I am happy to say that although, we have not been able to completely reach our ultimate goal in the provision of educational infrastructure in the municipality, the Assembly has done substantially well in the area,” she added.

Hajia Adams said since its inception in 2018, the Assembly had embarked on several infrastructural projects in the area to ease congestion in schools as well as improve quality of education in the Municipality.

She expressed gratitude to the community for the provision of land for the building of the facility, and the contractor, Buildway Construction Limited, who in spite of challenges ensured the completion of the project.

“I believe the provision of the facility will motivate our children to continually take their education seriously since we’re preparing them to take the mantle of running this country in the near future,” Hajia Adams said.

The Ayawaso East Municipal Director of Education, Madam Adisa Tassa lauded the project, saying the facility would aid the transformation of education within the Nima community.

She implored the school’s management to develop a healthy maintenance culture and to ensure the facility was put to good use.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Tamimu Aliyu, thanked the MCE and the government for the gesture and pledged to ensure the facility was maintained for the benefit of the students and the community.
