W/R Security Council places GH¢10,000 bounty for information

The Western Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has offered a reward of GH¢10, 000 for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of suspects who murdered Mr Charles Kwakye, 61, on Monday afternoon, at Amanful, suburb of Takoradi.

A release signed by the Head of Western Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, urged   any person with such credible information to report to the nearest police station or call the Western Regional Police Command on telephone numbers 0249983333, 0244591076 and 0245961522.

The public could also call Toll free on 18555,191 and 112 to reach the police or send WhatsApp message to number 02026639122, it added.

“The Command assures the general public of utmost confidentiality. It further assures especially residents in Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis and its environs that the security situation is calm and under control. The REGSEC have put sufficient measures in place to maintain law and order.

“The Regional Police Command  is  on a manhunt for six armed men who attacked the  victim and his wife, Monica Nda with guns, robbed them of valuables and bolted on board  two unregistered motorbikes, thus the reward by REGSEC.” the release assured.

Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis over the last two weeks had been characterised by violent robberies and last Monday’s incident which led to the killing of A 61-year–old man, Charles Kwakye, was not exception.

He was attacked and shot dead while his wife who had accompanied him to their new building site also sustained gun wound shots in broad daylight at Takoradi-Amanful, in the Metropolis.

The robbers were said to have used two motorcycles in the operation which also robbed the deceased of his travelling bag containing cash,including 6,000 CFA, 50 Euros, 80 Swiss Franc and GH¢ 12,700.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Takoradi Hospital Mortuary while his wife, Monica is responding to treatment.
