The Tarkwa Divisional Police Command has arrested three Chinese for allegedly murdering a man at a Bonsa mining site, in the Western Region, on Friday,
The suspects, Wen Jianhua, Yu Shuhui, alias Eli, and Zhou Daquan, according to the police, supposedly shot and killed the victim (named withheld).
The body has been deposited at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital for preservation and autopsy, according to a statement signed by Superintendent Kweku Ayepa, for the Head, Public Affairs Unit.
It explained that: “in line with our standard operating procedure and respect for Ghanaian tradition, the name of the deceased has been withheld until his family is duly informed of his demise.”
The police said that a search conducted at the residence of the suspect led to the retrieval of the weapon used for the murder.
Bonsa mining sites, have, recently, been associated with conflicts. Last March, one person died and four others seriously injured following violent clashes at Bonsaso, in the Tarkwa -Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.
One Alhassan, also known as Allah, died while four others, Awal Mohammed, 39, Issah Adama,30, Ransford Sarfo, 31, and Alhassan Issaka, 34, suffered serious injuries as a result of clashes at an illegal mining site along River Bonsa.
Some people suggested that the incident might be connected to long -standing feud between two groups in the Tarkwa- Nsuaem municipality.
