Adentan Police Commander calls for stronger community partnership

The Adentan Divisional Police Commander in the Greater Accra Region, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Susana Adjei, has urged residents of the Adentan Municipality to partner the Police to ensure effective policing in the area.
According to her, policing works best when the community and the Police work together towards a common goal of maintaining peace and security.
ACP Adjei made the call at the maiden West African Security Services Association (WASSA) gathering of the command held at Adentan on Friday on the theme: ‘Partnership for a Safe and Secure Community.’
The event, chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of Medi Moses Medical Centre, Dr De-Gaulle Moses Dogbatse, was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive for Adentan, Ms Ella Christine Nongo, and the Municipal Chief Executive for La Nkwantanang-Madina, Alhaji Ibrahim Fussieni Faila, as well as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Education Service.
ACP Adjei said the Police could not be everywhere and therefore required the support of residents to prevent crime and protect lives and property.
“The role of the Police is not only enforcement but also service. Our core duties are to prevent crime, detect crime and protect life and property,” she said.
ACP Adjei said partnership required residents to report suspicious activities, while parents should monitor their children’s movements and peer groups, landlords should verify prospective tenants, and community members should remain vigilant.
She emphasised that trust was essential to effective policing, saying cooperation and the timely sharing of information could help prevent crime.
Ms Nongo said the Assembly had earlier donated two motorbikes and repaired a broken-down police vehicle to enhance security in the municipality. She also assured the command that the broken entrance gate of the police station would be repaired.
Alhaji Faila appealed to the Police to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to ensure maximum security for the socio-economic development of the two municipalities and the Greater Accra Region.
