Black Queens coach names 26 for Pink Ladies Cup in UAE

Black Queens Head Coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, has named a 26-player squad for the Pink Ladies Cup in United Arab Emirates, as Ghana steps up preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The squad, announced on Friday, reflects a blend of experienced campaigners and promising young talents, as the technical team continues to shape a competitive side capable of making an impact on the continental stage.

The Pink Ladies Cup is expected to offer the Black Queens valuable international exposure and an opportunity to fine-tune tactics ahead of the crucial WAFCON tournament, a statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), said.

Among the notable inclusions are Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Jennifer Cudjoe, Portia Boakye, and Grace Asantewaa, all of whom bring experience and leadership to the team.

Young talents such as Alexandra Emefa Tay, Diana Amoako and Helen Alormenu have also earned call-ups, highlighting the coach’s commitment to blending youth with experience.

The Pink Ladies Cup will serve as a key preparatory assignment for the Black Queens, giving the technical team the chance to assess player readiness, build cohesion, and evaluate tactical options against international opposition.

Ghana is aiming to maintain a top spot of African women’s football, and the tournament presents an important step to make a strong statement.

The full list of players invited are Cynthia K. Findib (Samartex Ladies), Afi Amenyeku (FK Apolonia), Rose Baah (Giresun Sanayispor), Benedicte Simon (FC Sevette), Comfort Yeboah (Dux Logrono), Josephine Bonsu (FC Carl Zeiss Jena), Anasthesia Achiaa (Gyori), Portia Boakye (TP Mazembe) and Alexandra Emefa Tay (Stanford University).

Others are Susan Ama Duah (Racing Power), Diana Amoako (Ampem Darkoa Ladies), Grace Asantewaa (FC Juarex), Jennifer Cudjoe (Brooklyn FC), Nancy Amoh (FC Oviedo), Wasima Mohammed (FC Zurich), Evelyn Badu (Montreal Roses) and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah (Nottingham Forest).

The rest are Helen Alormenu (Texas State University), Princess Marfo (FC Nordsjaelland), Princella Adubea (Yoksekova), Alice Kusi (Al Ahli), Stella Nyamekye (Gotham FC), Sharon Sampson (Pitea IF), Doris Boaduwaa (Hapoel Katamon), Ajegipina Zakaria (Ampem Darkoa Ladies) and Abigail Kofi Kim (Neom).
