GTA issues directives for hospitality sector
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has issued guidelines and directives for the hospitality sector.
The directive followed the President’s announcement on the closure of pubs, clubs, and beaches as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
In a statement issued and copied to the Ghanaian Times yesterday, the Authority said pubs, beaches, night clubs and cinemas remain closed.
“Pubs remain closed, for case of reference per our standards captured in Tourism (Registration and Licensing of Food, Beverage and Entertainment Enterprise) Regulations, 2016. Legislative Instrument 2238,” it added.
According to GTA, restaurants should as much as possible provide take away and avoid seated services.
However, in case of providing seated services, it said they should limit the number to 50 per cent of current capacity.
They also urged those in the hospitality sector who are operating to display “No Mask No Entry” signage at their various entering points.
The statement also entreated them to observe all the safety protocols outlined by the Ghana Health Service.
In ensuring these directives, the GTA said it would be embarking on mass enforcement exercise with the Ghana Police Service.
It, however, warned that facilities that fail to adhere to the order would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
