The National Identification Authority (NIA) has begun issuing printed backlog and first-time registration of Ghana Cards at all NIA District Offices in the Greater Accra Region yesterday.
According to the authority, all Ghanaians who applied for the first issuance, replacement, or update of personal records from June 2023 in Greater Accra and have not yet received their cards could go to the district office where they registered for their cards.
The announcement was made in a press statement signed by the Acting Head Corporate Affairs Directorate of NIA, Mr Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, and copied The Ghanaian Times on Sunday.
He said all Ghanaians aged 15 years and above who have not yet registered for the Ghana Card were encouraged to visit any NIA District Office in the Greater Accra Region to get registered.
“The NIA would like to emphasise that the issuance of the printed backlog of Ghana Cards and first- time issuance (new registration) at all NIA District Offices are FREE of charge, so the public is urged to report any NIA staff who demands a fee in exchange for these services,” he noted.
However, Mr Darlas stated that Card Replacement and Update of Personal Records Services remain payable at the District Offices.
He asserted that NIA remained committed to ensuring that all Ghanaians possess the Ghana Card for the purposes of identification
