The Nii Anang Adzor Foundation, in collaboration with some businessmen in Ashaiman, have donated a double cabin Toyota Hilux pickup vehicle and four APSONIC motorbikes worth GH¢104,000.00 to enhance police patrols in Ashaiman and surrounding areas.
Making the presentation, Nii Anang Adzor, Regent of Ashaiman, said the gesture was in appreciation for the dedicated efforts policemen in the Ashaiman Division made to combat crime and maintain law and order in the area, in spite of the wide coverage area and the many logistical challenges.
He urged residents to cooperate with police by volunteering vital information to aid the fight against crime.
Receiving the items, Commander of the Ashaiman Division, Chief Superintendent Adu Kwadwo Baidu, thanked the donors for the items which he said were going to help boost the morale of officers in the fight to rid the area of crime.
“We have three districts here namely, Zenu, Atadeka and Adjei Kojo. Moreover, the road network is very bad but these gifts are going to help deal with the numerous robbery and bag snatching incidents,” he said.
Chief Supt. Adu revealed that two days back, they arrested and put before court a group of 10 okada riders who had migrated from Togo and Benin to engage in illegal activities in the country.
He called on other stakeholders to emulate the good example and support the police to work efficiently.
