O.K FRIMPONG POISED TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT IN ASANTE AKYEM NORTH

The independent parliamentary candidate of Asante Akyem North constituency in the Ashanti Region, Ohene Kwame Frimpong has reiterated his dedication to addressing the challenges facing the constituency, even in the absence of government backing.

Addressing the media in his Agogo based Salt fm over the weekend, he highlighted key issues such as poor road networks, youth unemployment, and inadequate agricultural support, which he has personally worked to tackle over the past nine years.

He explained that his motivation to lead stems from a desire to serve the people. “It is not about myself. If I want to serve, I must first lead. I took it upon myself to solve some of the constituency’s problems before seeking the nod to represent the people,” he said.

He identified the deplorable state of roads, particularly in Asante Akyem North as one of the pressing issues. “The road network is very bad, and there is no significant infrastructure in place to address it. Agogo, the constituency capital, cannot boast of comparable infrastructure to nearby towns like Kumawu,” he lamented.

Mr Frimpong also raised concerns about the lack of job opportunities for the youth, who make up 78% of Asante Akyem North’s population. “There is no single factory or infrastructure that provides employment for the youth. We are sitting on a ticking time bomb,” he warned.

Despite not holding public office or receiving government support, he emphasised his efforts, including establishing a business in the area that has employed over 40 residents. He also criticised the irregular and selective distribution of fertilizers to farmers, describing it as a failure to support the agricultural sector adequately.

He addressed concerns about security in the run-up to the December elections, citing threats and allegations of plans to disrupt the voting process. He revealed that an alleged audio recording implicated the Member of Parliament (MP), Andy Appiah Kubi in a scheme to rig the elections.

While condemning these alleged plans, he urged constituents to remain calm and focused. “We are one people. Let us maintain the peace and exercise our franchise responsibly,” he said. He added that police officers had been assigned to ensure his safety during the campaign period.

As election day approaches, the candidate expressed confidence in the discernment of the electorate. “The people of Asante Akyem North know the sacrifices I have made for this constituency. I believe they will make the right choice on 7th December,” he said.

The Independent Candidate also reassured residents of his continued commitment to development projects, regardless of the election outcome. “Whether I win or not, I will continue the projects I have started. My passion to see Asante Akyem North thrive will not waver,” he concluded.

With a focus on addressing systemic issues and fostering peace, he aims to redefine leadership in Asante Akyem North, prioritising the needs of the people over politics.

Residents of the Asante Akyem Agogo Constituency have commended independent parliamentary candidate Ohene Kwame Frimpong for his commitment to addressing the needs of the community through personal initiatives and developmental projects.

They described him as a man who listens to their needs and delivers on his promises without expecting anything in return. As a result, many families have transferred their votes from their various constituencies to support him in the upcoming elections.

Mr Frimpong, addressing the constituents at Agogo over the weekend, highlighted his contributions to the constituency despite not holding any political office. For the past nine years, he has consistently supported widows during Christmas by distributing rice, oil, and chicken, demonstrating his dedication to the welfare of his people.

In addition to this, he has used his personal resources to execute key developmental projects across the constituency. In Woraponso, he constructed a 12-capacity public toilet, while the Wioso community now benefits from a 20-capacity facility.

In Akutuase, he said to have built a community market with 12 stalls and a separate 48-stall market for traders, addressing longstanding infrastructural challenges. In Agogo, he funded the construction of an ultra-modern mosque with an inbuilt clinic to support both spiritual and healthcare needs.

“If I’ve been able to achieve all these developments with my hard-earned money, imagine what I can do when in power,” Mr Frimpong said, urging voters to consider his track record as they head to the polls.

He explained his decision to run as an independent candidate, stating that he refused to pay large sums of money to party delegates in exchange for their support. “These monies can be used to build factories and create jobs for the people instead of going into the hands of a few,” he noted.

As part of his vision, Mr Frimpong pledged to construct a fertiliser factory on land he has already acquired, which he believes will create sustainable employment opportunities for residents. He also highlighted the job opportunities he has already provided through ventures such as Salt FM, a radio station based in Agogo.

Mr Frimpong criticised his political opponents, accusing them of focusing on him rather than presenting their developmental plans. “They only talk about me and associate me with other political parties instead of telling the people what they’ve done or will do,” he said.

Addressing voter inducement, he urged his constituents to vote wisely. “As the elections get closer, they’ll bring you money and gifts to buy your votes. Take the money, but vote for someone who truly thinks about the wellbeing of the constituency,” he advised.

Several residents of the constituency have expressed their appreciation for Mr Frimpong’s contributions. Many believe he is a visionary leader capable of bringing meaningful development to the area, with his actions speaking louder than promises.
