Popular Ghanaian artiste, Samuel Adu Frimpong, known in showbiz as Medikal, who brandished a gun in public, last year, was on Monday convicted to a fine of GH3,600 by the Accra Circuit Court.

The court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandoh, a High Court judge sitting with additional responsibility, convicted Medikal on his on plea of guilt.
Medikal, who was on a GH100,000 bail, first pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court a few weeks ago.
Last week Tuesday, his counsel asked the court to release the Ruger 9mm pistol which Medikal branded on social media.
The prosecutor, Assistant State Attorney, Mr Adu Gyamfi, opposed the application by Mr Bobie Benson for the release of his client’s gun.
Justice Essandoh adjourned the case to February 21, rule on the application.
But before the court gave its ruling yesterday, Medikal said that he wanted to change his plea.
His counsel, Mr Emmanuel Yeboah Gyan, who held Bobbie Banson’s brief withdrew their services to the artiste.
The prosecution’s case was that on September 26, last year, the video of the accused displaying the gun went viral on social media.
The accused was subsequently arrested on October 21, 2021 and arraigned.
