Royal Park House wins Aburi Girls 2025 inter-houses b’ball tourney

Royal Park House emerged as winners of the 2025 Aburi Girls inter-house sports week basketball competition over the weekend, defeating Sylvia Asempa House with a score of 11-7 in the finals.
The championship served as a base to pick a team to defend the ‘Beposo Hann, Nyame Ne Hene’ flag at the upcoming Eastern Regional Sports Festival, where the school is the defending champion.
The tournament showcased the talents of all eight houses within the school.
En route to victory, Royal Park first defeated Capel House 21-4 in their opening match and then overcame Barradale House 15-8 to advance to the finals, where they faced Sylvia Asempa House, which had previously won against Edinburgh House (32-4) and Aberdeen House (20-13).
Barradale House claimed the third position after defeating Aberdeen House 15-6.
Mona Dede Acquah was awarded the title of Most Valuable Player for her outstanding performance in the tournament.
The special guest of honour, Mr Berthold Paa Joe Gadagbui, chairman and co-founder of Africa Baobabs (a sports NGO), donated two new fiberglass blackboards to replace the older wooden ones.
He also presented 10 pairs of trainers for use by the school team and six boxes of ‘Gari 4 in 1.’
Additionally, a former student and treasurer of the Ghana Basketball Association (GBA), Madam Aurora Commodore-Toppar, presented six basketballs to the school to support the development of the sport.
