Shift investment inland to ease pressure on coast – Dr Boerboom

An Associate Professor at the University of Twente, Netherlands, Dr Luc Boerboom, has called for a shift in investment focus from the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor to emerging inland areas to ease development pressure on coastal communities in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

He said redirecting investment to what he described as a “secondary corridor” could help reduce pressure on the coast and build the resilience of coastal communities against climate-related challenges, particularly flooding.

Dr Boerboom made the call at the third session of the Steering Committee on the Improved Resilience of Coastal Communities in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana project, held in Accra yesterday. Read More
