Thank you for giving me the nod Savelugu MP-elect

The Member of Parliament (MP) elect for Savelugu Constituency in the Northern Region, Hajia Fathahiya Abdul Aziz, has applauded the people and the constituency executives for the nod given to her to serve them for next four years.

She expressed her happiness for the love they had given to her during the campaigning up to her victory in the just ended general election.

The MP-elect made the statement in an interview with The Ghanaian Times here in Tamale on Wednesday.

“I’m so happy and grateful to the NPP party for the care and warmest love given to me to ensure my victory,” she stated

Hajia Abdul-Azziz thanked the chiefs, youth, and women groups for voting for her massively to snatch the seat from the NDC, adding that the victory was not only for her alone but was for the entire constituency.

The MP-elect pulled 27,450 votes to beat the incumbent MP for the area, Mr Abdulai Jacob Iddrisu, who had 24,877 votes.

She said she would hit the ground running soon after the swearing-in on January 7, 2025, pledging to empower women in the constituency to be able to contribute to national development.

The MP stated that women empowerment was something that she was doing even before she was elected as MP for the area and she would continue with it.

She also noted that she would not rest on her development that she had earmarked for the constituency even though her party had been voted out of power.

“I will continue with my developmental agenda in every part of the constituency to touch lives of people in their various communities,” she said

She added that girl child education was another area she would work on seriously to ensure that girls in the constituency got the best quality of education.

Moreover, the MP- elect, however, appealed to party leadership in the constituency to remain united, be peace- loving members as the party was in opposition

She added that this was the time for them to be more united and stop the blame game and forge ahead to work towards rebuilding to prepare for the next general election.
