U.S. Congratulates Ghana on her 65th anniversary
The United States yesterday congratulated Ghana on her 65th Independence Anniversary.
“On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate all Ghanaians home and abroad on the anniversary of Ghana’s independence on March 6”, Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken.
Mr Blinken said the two countries cherish the longstanding partnership which had culminated mutual, economic, security and democratic interests.
“We value the longstanding partnership between the United States and Ghana, which has advanced our mutual economic, security, public health, human rights, and democratic governance interests.”

The U.S. Secretary of State said the meeting between President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Kamala Haris in September 2021 as well as his meeting with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in January 2021 had deepened the bond of their friendship.
“The meeting between President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Harris last September, as well as my own meeting with Vice President Bawumia in January, served to reaffirm our strong friendship,” Secretary Blinken added.
While wishing Ghana well, Mr Blinken asked the two countries to reflect “on our shared history and many people-to-people ties, and recommit ourselves to deepening our partnership.”
The U.S. Secretary of State commended Ghana on its commitment to democracy in its leadership of the Economic Community of West African States.
The United States established diplomatic relations with Ghana in 1957 following Ghana’s independence from the United Kingdom.
The United States and Ghana share a long history promoting democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
