2 Arrested for Unlawful Possession of Firearm

The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command has arrested two persons for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a patrol operation at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
The arrest was made during a routine patrol operation conducted by officers from the division. In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Accra Region, and shared with The Ghanaian Times on Sunday, it was revealed that the two suspects were arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
The suspects were identified as Kwame Boahen, aged 35, a pillion rider, and Fatau Alhassan, aged 52, an okada rider, who were riding a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate when they were intercepted.
According to the statement, the arrest followed an incident on Friday, December 19, 2025, when a patrol team spotted the motorbike at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and attempted to stop it for a routine check. Upon seeing the police, the suspects abandoned the motorbike and attempted to flee.
The suspects were arrested after a brief chase despite resistance. A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of one pistol bearing the number 39363 with the inscription “CS HEAND SUH,” 72 rounds of ammunition, one iPhone, one LG smartphone, one Blackberry phone, one keypad phone, and two wristwatches.
The suspects have been cautioned and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. The retrieved exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes, while efforts are underway to trace the owners of the recovered mobile phones and to establish the source of the firearm and ammunition.
