Ayawaso East MCE reaffirms commitment to inclusive, sustainable devt

THE Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, Mr Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
He said this was in line with the rollout of the assembly’s 2026– 2029 Medium-Term Development Plan.
Addressing the participants during a townhall meeting and public hearing, Mr Ibrahim noted that the hearing was an important democratic exercise aimed at ensuring that the development blueprint of the municipality reflects the voices and aspirations of its people.

He explained that the medium-term plan would serve as a roadmap for the next four years, focusing on critical areas such as infrastructure development, health, sanitation, education, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
According to him, the Assembly was determined to implement policies and projects that would improve the quality of life of residents and position Ayawaso East as a model of progress within the Greater Accra Region.
“This hearing is not just a formality, but a platform for dialogue and collaboration. It is your opportunity to influence the direction of our community’s development, we want to hear your concerns, ideas, and suggestions so that our strategy is not only comprehensive but also inclusive and forward-looking,” he underscored.
Mr Ibrahim further underlined the importance of citizen participation in governance, stressing that development could only be meaningful and sustainable when it reflects the needs and aspirations of the people, urging residents to take active part in the discussions, ask questions, and provide concrete recommendations to enrich the final draft of the plan.
Acknowledging the role of stakeholders, the MCE commended the Assembly’s planning team, technical staff, and community representatives for their tireless efforts in drafting the initial proposals.
Their work, he noted, had ensured that the draft plan aligned with the broader vision of the municipality and the national development agenda.
“Our progress as a municipality depends on the shared responsibility between leadership and citizens.”
“This plan has been drafted with dedication and commitment, but your contributions today are what will make it complete. Together, we can create a vibrant, prosperous, and resilient municipality where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” he emphasised.
He also assured the participants that their contributions would be carefully considered in refining the development plan before its submission for approval.
The MCE maintained that the Assembly was determined to implement an inclusive framework that catered to the diverse needs of residents, from job creation and youth empowerment to improved sanitation and sustainable urban development.
He encouraged community members to see the medium-term plan as their own and to hold the Assembly accountable for its implementation once adopted.
“This is our shared vision for the future. Let us proceed with optimism and determination as we work together to build a better tomorrow,” Mr Ibrahim highlighted.
