Black Princesses edge Eswatini
Ghana’s female U-20 side, the Black Princesses yesterday defeated Eswatini 2-0 to round off an 8-1 aggregate win, to book qualification to the final round of qualifiers for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be staged in Colombia next year.
Striker Beline Nyarkoh and Sarah Nyarko’s goals in the sixth and 12th minutes were enough to hand the Ghanaians a double over their opponents.
The host came into the game on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of the same side a week ago at the Somhlolo National Stadium in Eswatini.
After the goals, the complexion of the game changed to a one-way affair as the visitors stayed back to defend gallantly.
Goalkeeper Nompilo Dlamini the busier of the two goalkeepers worked all afternoon to keep a respectable scoreline
With Eswatini out of the way, the Black Princesses will now face Senegal in the final phase of qualifiers, after they defeated Uganda 2-1 on aggregate to go through.
The winner over two legs would qualify for the Colombia tournament scheduled for August 31 to 22 September, 2024.
