Ga Mantse solicits support of retired players

The  Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has called on retired footballers from the Greater Accra Region to support the construction of a Korle-Bu 24- hour Pharmacy Annex project to cater for the health needs of the people in the region.

The 24-hour pharmacy project is an initiative of the Ga Mantse, and is also meant to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II made the call when he met the retired footballers at his residence in Accra, yesterday to discuss ways of ensuring the completion of the project and the development of Greater Accra.

Notable among the retired footballers who met the Ga Mantse were Stephen Appiah, Godwin Attram, Derrick Boateng, and the Odorkor Mantse and former Great Olympics captain, Nii Koko Boi Maclean III.

According to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, he explained that the 24-hour Korle-Bu pharmacy Annex project formed part of many initiatives he was spearheading in order to ensure the development of the capital.

However, the Ga Mantse said he could not achieve that alone, hence, the support of the retired footballers and other relevant stakeholders, adding that he would collaborate with the Sempe Mantse, under whose jurisdiction the hospital would be located.

Additionally, he called for the establishment of various sports infrastructure, including Astro Turf pitches in the Greater Accra region to nurture and develop the sporting talents.

For his part, Nii Koko Boi Mclean III, on behalf of the retired footballers pledged their support for the project saying, “We are very proud of what the Ga Mantse is doing to develop the Greater Accra region.

“As retired footballers, we are going to support the project wholeheartedly and ensure that it becomes a reality,” he assured.

Stephen Appiah observed that the establishment of the 24- hour pharmacy Annex project by the Ga Mantse was worthy of commendation considering the challenges the hospital faced and what he saw when he took his parents to the facility for treatment.

Furthermore, Godwin Attram urged the Ga Mantse to also consider the development of astro turfs in the region as it had produced a lot of sports personalities.
