Ghana lose to Ecuador in FIFA U-20 WWC
Ghana’s national U-20 female national team, the Black Princesses, lost their opening game 3-0 to Ecuador on Sunday in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (WWC).
Ghana had the first chance through Agnes Yeboah but her effort was parried to safety.
Ecuador took an early lead when they beat goalkeeper Najat Abdul Salam in the second minute and doubled it in the 16th minute.
Goalkeeper Najat was replaced by Precious Asante due to injury.
Ghana pushed to reduce the deficit but their efforts proved futile as the first half ended 2-0. After the break, Ecuador added a third goal to end the game 3-0.
Ghana will play South Korea in their second game tomorrow, a game the Black Princesses must win to have a good chance of qualification to the next stage of the competition.
