Ghana Post launches School Box Service

Ghana Post has launched the School Box Service to enable students and parents to conveniently transport school-related items to and from schools across the country.

The initiative is aimed at making the movement of students’ belongings easier and more manageable, particularly as schools grapple with space constraints.

Speaking at the launch in Accra yesterday, the Managing Director of Ghana Post, Mrs Rita Sraha, said the service would help ease the burden on students and parents who had to transport school-related items across the country.

She said the service formed part of Ghana Post’s broader transformation agenda to provide practical solutions to everyday challenges.

Mrs Sraha said her own experience in school had shown her that students often arrived at school already exhausted from the journey and the burden of carrying their belongings.

She noted that the situation had become more challenging because of limited space in schools, making it difficult for students to transport all the items they needed at once.

Mrs Sraha said innovation must respond to the everyday realities of citizens, stressing that digital transformation should not remain an abstract concept but should translate into services that improved people’s lives.

She said the success of the School Box Service would depend on Ghana Post’s ability to listen to users, learn from their experiences and continuously improve the service.

The Acting Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Ghana Post, Mr Bernard Yaw Atta-Sonno, said the School Box Service represented both a customer-service proposition and an opportunity to diversify the company’s revenue streams.

He said the initiative formed part of the company’s wider commercial agenda as Ghana Post progressively expanded beyond its traditional postal operations into parcel and courier services, e-commerce, retail and agency services.

Mr Atta-Sonno said the company was also seeking to commercialise its extensive postal network and properties more effectively.

He said Ghana Post was strengthening its focus on digitalisation, customer experience, strategic partnerships and data-driven commercial decision-making to build multiple sustainable revenue streams from its existing assets and capabilities.

The CCO said the company aimed to develop a more diversified revenue base, with increasing income expected from logistics, parcels, digitally enabled services, institutional contracts and e-commerce fulfilment.
