GOC attends CGF General Assembly, inspects facilities in Glasgow

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr Richard Akpokavie, has attended a landmark Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) General Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland.
He was accompanied by the Secretary General, Muniru Mohammed, and Ghana’s Chef de Mission (CDM) for the upcoming 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Mr Ernest Danso. The latter joined the duo to conduct a facility inspection exercise.
According to a GOC brief, the General Assembly approved the historic change of the organisation’s name from the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) to Commonwealth Sports.
The trio conducted an inspection of potential future hosting venues to assess Ghana’s readiness to engage with the new, invigorated vision for Commonwealth Sports.
These crucial preparatory engagements covered a range of logistical issues vital for Ghana’s team, including ticketing, accommodation, pre-Games camping arrangements, visas, and accreditation issues.
