Jordan Face Morocco in FIFA Arab Cup Final

Jordan, the free-scoring kings of the FIFA Arab Cup™, have racked up ten goals in their five games, while Morocco have conceded just once—a first-half own goal in their opening group match. Today at Lusail Stadium, the tournament decider promises a clash between Jordan’s prolific attack and Morocco’s rock-solid defence.

Despite missing injured Nashama forward Yazan Al Naimat, Jordan head coach Jamal Sellami has quality depth and tournament top scorer Ali Olwan to maintain their scoring threat. Morocco, on the other hand, have been nearly impenetrable, even without several regulars. Goalkeeper El Mehdi Benabid, central defenders Soufiane Bouftini and Marwane Saadane, full-backs Mohamed Boulacsout and Hamza El Moussaoui, and captain Mohamed Hrimat have formed an outstanding defensive unit.

Both teams are also set for next year’s FIFA World Cup, but first, they aim to settle scores in the Arab Cup final. Four years ago, both nations fell in the quarter-finals, and with defending champions Algeria eliminated at the same stage this year, a new champion will be crowned on Qatar’s National Day.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates will face off to determine the bronze medalist in the regional tournament. -FIFA
