Kpone outdoors new Paramount Chief
Hundreds of residents of Kpone in the Greater Accra Region yesterday thronged the principal streets of the town to welcome the newly installed Paramount Chief of the Kpone Traditional Area, Nene TettehMansro II.
The colourful procession was marked by drumming, dancing and traditional displays as residents lined the streets to cheer the new chief.
The occasion was characterised by pomp and pageantry, with residents and supporters expressing optimism that the installation would usher in a new era of peace, unity and development for Kpone.
Some youth who spoke to The Ghanaian Times said the installation had brought relief to the community and expressed hope that it would pave the way for renewed development.
The celebration came amid claims by some individuals questioning the legitimacy of Nene TettehMansro II as the KponeMantse.
The Royal Bediako We (Clan) and the kingmakers of the royal stool, however, dismissed the claims as false and groundless.
At a press conference earlier, the Secretary of the Kpone Traditional Area, Mr James Atiapa said misinformation had been circulating about the legitimacy of the newly installed chief.
“The Royal Bediako We (Clan) and the kingmakers of the royal stool of the Kpone Traditional Area wish to state emphatically that the stories about the newly installed chief are false and groundless,” the statement said.
It urged the public to disregard a purported letter and other publications allegedly issued on behalf of the Royal Bediako families and kingmakers questioning the installation of Nene Tetteh Mansro II.
The Bediako Royal We and its kingmakers insisted that Nene TettehMansro II was the legitimate chief of Kpone and had been installed in accordance with customary practices and the laws of Ghana.
The statement said the installation had been conducted with due regard to the relevant legal requirements, including the Public Order Act.
Nene TettehMansro II, known in private life as AgoeTetteyKwao, was therefore described as the duly installed KponeMantse.
The spokesperson assured the people of Kpone and the general public that the new Mantse would work closely with traditional leaders, residents, private institutions and other stakeholders to promote the development of the traditional area.
He called on the people of Kpone to unite behind the new traditional leadership and support efforts to transform the area.
He also urged the public to disregard what he described as false media publications circulating online, which sought to suggest that Nene TettehMansro II had not been installed as KponeMantse.
The traditional authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and unity in the traditional area and urged all stakeholders to channel any grievances through the appropriate traditional and legal processes.
