Mason jailed 10 years for sexually abusing girl
Dicko Ibrahim, a 32yearold mason, who sexually abused a nine-year-old girl, at James Town, Accra, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour by an Accra Circuit Court.
Detective Sergeant Opoku Aniagye told the court presided by Justice Mrs Rita AbrokwahDoko, that the complainant is a 35yearold food vendor, who resided at Korle Gonno, Accra, and the victim is her niece.
Prosecution said the convict, who was living at James Town on April 28, last year, assisted the complainant to sell food at the convict’s work place.
The court heard that the complainant asked the victim to collect bowls from her customers, who had finished eating, and wash them.
Sgt Aniagye said in the process of collecting the bowls, Ibrahim asked the victim to enter his wooden structure and take sachet water for him.
Soon after the victim had entered the convict’s wooden structure, he followed, and had sex with her.
Prosecution said after the act, Ibrahim warned the victim not to tell anyone else he would beat her.
Sgt Aniagye said in May, last year, the complainant detected that the victim could not walk well, and when she was quizzed, she said Ibrahim had sex with her.
The victim also led the complainant to Ibrahim’s wooden structure where the accused lived, but she could not find Ibrahim.
Sgt Aniagye said on May 15, this year, the complainant spotted Ibrahim at James Town, and she alerted the police and he was arrested.
Ibrahim was escorted to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), and a medical form was issued to the complainant to take the victim to the hospital. -GNA
