Muslims urged to devote resources towards growth, devt
Umar Farouk Saeed, the Sarki Zongo in the Ashanti Region, has rallied Muslims to devote their resources towards the socioeconomic growth and development of the country.
He stressed on the need for harmony, cohesion, unity and peaceful co-existence to accelerate processes towards improvement of livelihoods.
“As Muslims, let us use the Ramadan to sustain the peaceful co-existence prevailing in the country towards communal harmony, cohesion, growth and development,” he said.
Using an Iftar (fast-breaking meal) dinner at his residence to appeal to Muslims, Muslim leaders, and politicians among others in the Ashanti region describing it as important for the nation’s growth and development, Alhaji Saeed, noted that without communal harmony, cohesion, peace and unity socioeconomic development would stall to the detriment of the citizenry.
He indicated that such events must be message of communal harmony and cohesion which Muslims must always live with, but needed to be highlighted now more than ever to always keep with the benevolent spirit of Ramadan.
Alhaji Saeed called on Muslims to take advantage of the month of Ramadan to pray for peaceful co-existence, cohesion and unity among citizens to spearhead progress and growth of society.
Ali Suraj, a representative from the Office of the Vice President, said it was a privilege to dine with the section of Muslims at the Sarkin Zongo residence and admonished Muslims to make an effort to change the livelihoods of others so that they could contribute meaningfully to nation building and cohesion.
Ibrahim Anyars, NDC Organiser for Asawase Constituency, appealed to Muslims to put their party colours aside and forge together to accelerate progress, growth and development of Zongos across the country. –mjoyonline.com
