Pro Fighting Factory Gym takes a break
The Pro-Fighting-Factory-Muay Thai Ghana gym has announced closure as a result of the Corona virus pandemic.
The team has been training at the spacious Accra Sports Stadium.
President of the gym, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai, told a section of the media that the athletes’ lives are very important and would not get them involved in situations that would get them infected.
“But being a very physical and contact sport, it was important we take a measure to protect our fighters from contracting the disease,” he said.
He said the break was indefinite considering the pressure it has brought on the health authorities in their bid to bring the disease under control.
He also advised the athletes to exercise on their own in order not to be rusty.
Vice President of the Factory, Mr. Sammy Heywood Okine, an experienced Sports Journalist welcomed the decision, urged the fighters to remain disciplined and cautioned the athletes to take good care of themselves.
“We have decided to give them some rest but we expect them to be active by engaging in jogging and other activities that will keep them busy and maintain their stamina. They must also avoid shaking hands and being in the midst on many people,” he told the athletes.
