School Sports Assoc praised for good mentorship of students

The Eastern Regional Second Cycle School Sports Association (ERSCSSA) has been commended for its outstanding mentorship and grooming of six students from the area that earned spots in Ghana’s national team.
These talented individuals were part of the squad that represented Ghana at the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) schools tournament held in Accra last month.
Dr Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, lauded the Association and Physical Education Coordinators for their dedication in training and equipping students to develop their athletic potential.
At the opening ceremony of the 36th Eastern Regional Inter-Collegiate and Super Zonal Championship in Koforidua, she underscored the importance of sports in fostering patriotism and unity.
To officially commence the championship, the Regional Director kicked off the ceremonial football at the Koforidua Sports Stadium, marking the start of the event.
The highly anticipated Super Zonal Championship drew participants from 60 Senior High Schools (SHS) across eight zones, competing in both soccer and athletics.
The soccer tournament ended on Wednesday while the athletics competition will span 10 days, from May 12-22, with both male and female students participating.
Mr Agyeman appealed to individuals and organisations worldwide to support the association by providing essential resources to enhance sports development in the region, acknowledging that such contributions would go a long way to help ERSCSSA achieve its objectives.
Among the participating schools were the Attafuah Senior Technical High School, Salvation Army SHS, Aburi Girls SHS, Okuapemman Senior High School, Abuakwa State College, Mpraeso Senior High School, New Juaben Senior High School, and Koforidua Senior High Technical School.
