SOM presents learning materials to 600 pupils in 2 regions
Souls Oriented Mission (SOM), a religious NGO, has distributed educational and religious materials to students from three schools in the Ashanti and Central regions, to assist them in learning.
The items included school uniforms, bags, pens, pencils, books, shoes, T shirts, cloths, school bell, bibles, and religious books.
The beneficiary schools are from Enyam Nkodwo Methodist School in the Central Region, Bedieso D /A Primary and JHS and the Presbyterian primary schools, all in the Ashanti Region.
At separate ceremonies, Pastor Mark Neil, Leader of the SOM team said the items were presented to over 600 pupils and students in the two regions based on their pressing needs.
Pastor Neil stressed that the items were presented with the aim of easing some pressures on the pockets of parents and guardians from acquiring those items for use by their wards in school.
He stressed that the gesture was the mission’s way of supporting the needy in the society and getting close to them apart from preaching Christ to them.
According to the Team Leader, Christians concentrate on only the inner part of the human being when witnessing or evangelising to non-Christians, without paying attention to the outer needs of the person.
“We at SOM believe that soul wining or evangelism is not only about witnessing to the inner part of the person about Christ but also to provide the physical needs of those who really needs it and making them feel welcome,” he said.
Pastor Neil said prior to the presentations, several crusades were held and so many people gave their lives to God in all the areas they visited.
