Tamale set for NARF 2026

The Kentucky Dagomba Chief, Alhaji Faisal Amadu is set to organised Northern Arts and Rhythms Festival (NARF) 2026 in Tamale, the regional capital of the northern region
This festival is a cultural and development initiative that sought to use music, arts, heritage and cultural exchange as tools to promote peace, unity, tourism and economic opportunities in northern Ghana.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Public Relation Officer of the event, Madan Suweiba Yakubu and copied to the Ghanaian Times on Friday.
According to the statement, the event scheduled to take place from August 26 to September 5, 2026, would bring together traditional leaders, communities, youth groups, creatives, cultural practitioners, stakeholders and people from all walks of life in the region to celebrate the rich cultural identity of Northern Ghana
It said this would ensure that the region takes its place as a destination for cultural tourism in the country.
The statement further added that NARF was built on the belief that culture plays an important role in strengthening peaceful coexistence, preserving heritage and creating opportunities for communities in the country.
This sustainable cultural and economic growth, the statement recognised, could only thrive in an environment where communities live together in harmony and through cultural expression.
It stated that the festival sought to create a platform where traditions are celebrated, stories shared, businesses supported and young people connected to opportunities within the creative and tourism sectors.
The statement further said culture was a tool for peace and development in every part of the world and hence the need to embrace cultural festivals as means to promote peace in the country.
It added that peace remains central to the preservation of culture and the growth of economic activities in Northern Ghana.
They said the NARF was beyond cultural celebration and the 2026 festival sought to contribute to local economic development by creating opportunities for entrepreneurs within the creative and tourism sectors and this included artisans, food vendors, fashion designers, performers, hospitality providers and other service providers in the region and beyond.
It also emphasized that, the festival would also provide a platform for cultural practitioners and creatives to connect, collaborate and showcase their talents to audiences from Ghana and beyond
The statement, however was hoping that, the Northern Arts and Rhythms Festival would become an annual platform that contributes to peacebuilding, cultural preservation, tourism development and economic empowerment in Northern Ghana.
