Black Princesses back home, face Uganda in final qualifier for FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup

The Black Princesses have arrived in Accra after securing a 1-0 win away in South Africa in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

The team arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in the late hours of Sunday and were welcomed by a few officials from the corridors of football.

Ghana defeated South Africa 3-2 on aggregate to advance to the final round of the qualifiers, where they’ll face Uganda in May 2026.

The South Africans created a scare in the first leg match in Accra when they held the Black Princesses to a pulsating 2-2 draw to create doubts in the minds of fans regarding qualification to the final round.

However, the Princesses gave a good account of themselves in the second leg, brushing aside the South African bluff to emerge 1-0 conquerors of the host.

That gives an opportunity to the Charles Sampson-led side to give qualification a go by facing Uganda in the final round of qualifiers for the World Cup later in the year.

Ghana is aiming to make history as they inch closer to an eighth consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament scheduled to take place in Poland in September 2026.
