Driver jailed 20 years for impregnating daughter
The Circuit Court in Accra has sentenced a taxi driver to 20 years imprisonment, for impregnating his biological daughter.
Francis Fynn Aikins, convict, told the police that he started having sex with the 16-year-old daughter in June, last year, after divorcing his wife (victim’s mother).
The victim became pregnant and gave birth prematurely and the baby did not survive.
The court presided over by Mrs Christina Cann commended the Administrator of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly(LEKMA) Hospital, at Teshie, in Accra, (Mr Charles Banafo) for reporting the case to the Police.
Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbiretold the court that the complainant was the administrator of the hospital, and the victim, a student, who has been living with her father at Nungua, Accra.
The prosecution said accused has divorced the victim’s mother, but the victim lived with him (Aikins).
Chief Atimbire said accused had sexual intercourse with the victim and she became pregnant.
The court heard that the pregnancy developed complications, and the girl was rushed to the LEKMA Hospital, where she disclosed that her father was responsible for the pregnancy.
Chief Atimbiresaid the victim gave birth prematurely, and the baby died, and the hospital authorities reported the case to the Domestic Violence Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service and Aikinswas arrested. -GNA
