Hasaacas Ladies face Malabo Kings today
Ghana champions Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies will kick off their campaign at themaiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League today against Equatorial Guinea side, Malabo Kings at the June 30 Stadium in Egypt.
Having conquered the local scene with the league and FA Cup trophies plus the WAFU Zone B championships where the beat Nigerian champions Rivers Angels in the finals, Hasaacas are aiming to extend their dominance to the continental level.
They are heading into the competition as huge underdogs, the same tag on which they rode to the three previous titles.
And for Head Coach Yusif Basigi, that tag will be good for the team as it takes pressure off them and allows them to enjoy their games.
The Equatorial Guinea club which is representing the Central Zone (UNIFFAC) was founded barely two years agobut are already rubbing shoulders with the top sides.
Blowing off two established sides in their zone like Cameroon’s Louves Minproff and Congo’s FC Amani shows their mettle.
That notwithstanding, Coach Basigi is extremely confident of overcoming them as they aim to win the ultimate.
