Teacher jailed 10 years for defiling girl, 13
An Information Communication and Technology (ICT) teacher has been jailed 10 years by a Cape Coast Circuit Court for defiling a 13-year-old student
Eric George Gbevitor, 32, was found guilty of defilement by the court presided over by Mrs Dorinda Smith Arthur.
Detective Chief Inspector John Asare Bediako, prosecuting, told the court that Mr John Quaye, the complainant, and father of the victim (name withheld), returned from church and realised that the daughter was not at home.
The court heard that when the girl returned and was questioned by the father, she (girl) said that Gbevitor lured her into his room at Abura, a suburb of Cape Coast, and had sexual intercourse with her.
Chief Insp Bediako said the girl told the father that earlier, Gbevitor took her to a Guest House, after she closed from school, and had sex with her.
Prosecution said the Complainant reported the case at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, in Cape Coast, and a medical report was issued for the girl to be taken to hospital.
Chief Insp Bediako said medical examination has confirmed that the girl’s hymen has been broken. -GNA
