Ahafo Ano South West District to get new nursing training college

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Alhaji Abubakar Sedik, has taken a significant step toward expanding tertiary health education in the district with plans to establish a new nursing training college.

In a landmark development, the Kunsuhene, Nana Dr Agyemang Badu Duah, has generously allocated a parcel of land in Kunsu for the construction of the college, supporting the DCE’s commitment to education and local development.

The DCE recently paid a courtesy call on authorities of Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College, during which the school revealed its ambition to introduce a degree programme. To advance this initiative, Alhaji Sedik engaged CCOD, a development-oriented NGO based in Sunyani and headed by Dr Gabriel Banaku, which expressed readiness to partner on the infrastructural aspects of the project.

Following consultations, the DCE, CCOD CEO Dr Banaku, and District Assembly officials visited the Kunsuhene’s palace to request land for the project. Nana Dr Agyemang Badu Duah promptly approved the request, underscoring his support for educational and developmental initiatives in the district.

Alhaji Sedik expressed gratitude to the Kunsuhene for his swift support and highlighted the expected impact of the project on health training, job creation, and local development. In response, Nana Dr Agyemang Badu Duah commended the efforts of the DCE and CCOD, stressing that education remains a powerful driver of community progress, and pledged continued backing throughout the implementation of the project.

Dr Banaku assured that his organisation is committed to investing in infrastructure that enhances social welfare, describing the initiative as a transformational step to strengthen nursing education and promote quality healthcare for generations in the district.
