Akropong School for the Blind receives support from R&F Foundation
A child focus non-governmental organisation (NGO), R & F Foundation has donated educational materials to the Akropong School for the Blind as part of efforts to support teaching and learning activities of the school.
The supplies valued at more than GH¢150,000.00 included desk top computers, a printer and 55 packs of braille sheets.
The founder, Mr Roderick Okoampah Ayeh, handing over the items to the school authorities said it behooves everyone to be sensitive to the vulnerable, especially Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), adding that such individuals exhibited so much talent and needed to be supported to unleash their potentials.
He mentioned that the R&F Foundation had over the years supported various schools in the country due to its objective of contributing towards the promotion of education of children especially.
Education he said helps alleviate poverty and promotes development therefore it was very necessary for the government and all Ghanaians who mean well to collaborate in ensuring that no child is left behind when it comes to formal education.
He commended both the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Akropong School for the Blind for their dedication towards the upkeep of the students, saying “your task is not an easy one. Thank you for all you do for these kids.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the students, the Information Communication Technology (ICT) teacher of the school, Mr Maxwell Asante, expressed gratitude for the kind gesture.
He stated that the materials will go a long way in assisting the students to excel academically.
After the donation exercise, a feast and football match was organised for the students
