Be disciplined, work hard for success – Chief Imam urges Berekum Chelsea
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has advised players, coaches, management and the technical team of Ghana Premier League side, Berekum Chelsea to embrace discipline and hard work to achieve success.
He made this after receiving an entourage from the club led by General Manager, Mr Husseni Burhanu Alfa, last Friday at his residence in Fadama, a suburb of Accra.
“I’m glad to have met the entire team today. When my grandson (Alfa) told me about the visit, I did not hesitate and told him to come with his team when they are ready.
“As footballers, there is the need to stay disciplined and work hard in your career; give out your best on and off the field and never cease praying. Hard work and perseverance should be your hallmark,” he insisted.
Sheikh Sharubutu urged the team to scale through challenging moments as they may encounter and applauded them for their indefatigable efforts and successes achieved.
He pledged his unremitting support for the team and advised them to remain focused and resolute.
The Imam also seized the opportunity to offer special prayers for the club’s top scorer Mezack Afriyie, Coach Christopher Ennin and skipper Zakaria Fuseini.
Mr Alfa pointed out that the courtesy call was not because of their game against Hearts of Oak, but to request for intercessory prayer and blessings for the entire team as the season unfolds.
“Our visit here was not because of our game with Hearts, but because of my relationship with Sheikh. When I spoke to him about my visit, he asked me to come with my team to seek Allah’s blessings,” he explained.
Also present at the solemn event were Nkoo Joseph (Accra Representative) and Christopher Fredua (Club Administrator).
Berekum Chelsea slumped 3-1 by Hearts in a fierce encounter on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium – leaving the Biribies 10th on the league log with 22 points after 17 games.
They have managed six wins, four draws and lost seven in the ongoing 2022/23 betPawa Premier League.
The Berekum-based outfit will lock horns with struggling King Faisal at the Baba Sports Stadium in their match- day 17 clash on Sunday, February 19.
