The B5 Plus Group, in collaboration with Tema-based DPS International School, has awarded full scholarship to children of the victims of the August 6, 2025 ghastly helicopter crash.
The package would cover two children of each victim. It covers tuition, uniforms, and boarding — all the way to ‘A’ Level.
Receiving the offer on behalf of the President and the bereaved families at a ceremony at the Presidency in Accra, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah said the gesture would go a long way to ease the burden of bereaved families.
Mr Debrah described the package as “a true act of corporate responsibility and compassion,” and urged other public-spirited organisations and individuals to emulate the example of the two institutions.
He said in tragedy, a pathway of hope has been carved as the B5 Plus–DPS scholarship would stand as a legacy of compassion, proving that when the private sector and government unite, the nation’s future could be brighter.
The Presidential Advisor on Legal, Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, lauded the initiative, calling it “a priceless investment in the future.”
“This act will be greatly welcomed by His Excellency the President because it reflects his vision of ensuring education for all, while paying respect to public servants who gave their lives,” Ms Brew stated.
She praised DPS International as one of Ghana’s top institutions, producing world-class graduates.
The Helicopter Victims’ Children’s Support Fund was established to support the education and welfare of children of the eight who lost their lives in the tragedy.
They were Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, and Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
Others were Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chair, NDC, and Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO.
The crew members were Wing Commander Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Lieutenant Manin Twum-Ampadu and Flight Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Donations into the Fund has so far reached over GH¢3.5 million.
