GAR Peace Council member to present paper at Oxford

Alhaji Khuzaima Mohammed Osman, a member of the National Peace Council of Ghana (NPC), who chairs the Finance and Fundraising Committee of the Greater Accra Regional Peace Council of the NPC, has been invited to present an academic research paper on ‘Conflict Resolution: A Ghanaian perspective in the African context’, at the bi-annual symposium at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom from March 19-21, 2025.
Abstract of the paper shared with The Ghanaian Times read as follows:
Conflict resolution is a crucial aspect of social cohesion and sustainable development in any society. In Africa, where diversity is abundant, understanding the various cultural perspectives on conflict resolution becomes paramount. This paper explores conflict resolution from a Ghanaian perspective and highlights its relevance in the broader African context. It examines traditional African conflict resolution mechanisms and their adaptability in the modern era.
Additionally, the paper emphasises the importance of incorporating indigenous knowledge systems into formal conflict resolution frameworks for more effective and inclusive outcomes.
Alhaji Osman is expected to leave Accra to the United Kingdom in March to attend the symposium and another in Toronto, Canada before returning home in April 2025.
Alhaji Awaisu Bio, the Executive Secretary of the Office of National Chief Imam, said “Members of the Islamic community including himself are very proud and have expressed joy and gratitude to Allah for this milestone achievement by a Ghanaian Muslim brother to have such a great opportunity to present a paper at the oldest and most prestigious university in the world”.
Alhaji Khuzaima Osman is also the Executive Secretary of the Tijjaniya Muslims Movement of Ghana (TMMG).
