GPL: Annor’s ‘I belong to Jesus’ goal celebration draws GFA fine

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has imposed a GH¢500 fine on Nations FC striker, Emmanuel Annor, for his religious goal celebration.

Annor scored the second goal for his team’s 2-0 victory over Asante Kotoko a few weeks ago, and he celebrated by showing off his vest, which read, I belong to Jesus.

Annor received a yellow card on the pitch for removing his jersey, as well as a sanction from the GFA, which has sparked criticism on social media.

According to a ruling by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA, Annor’s goal celebration was deemed a violation of league regulations that prohibit players from displaying religious or political messages.
