Kobena Woyome gets GOC appointment

THE Executive Board of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has appointed Mr Kobena Mensah Woyome as the Chairperson of the newly established Government Relations and Stakeholders Sub-committee.
Mr Woyome is the immediate past Member of Parliament (MP) for the South Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region and a former Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture in the eighth Parliament.
A statement signed by the GOC Secretary General, Mohammed Muniru Kassim, congratulated Mr Woyome on his appointment to the high office of the committee.
It assured the former MP of the Committee’s commitment to work together for the development of sports in Ghana to benefit millions of young athletes, coaches, and technical officials.
The current GOC Board, led by its President, Richard Kofi Akpokavie, created the new role to fast-track, advice, and guide government policies on sports in line with the GOC’s development agenda, which aligns with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC).
The appointment forms part of the broader committee structure approved by the Executive Board of the GOC.
