Matchday Booklet, catalyst for sports reset agenda – NSA Director General

The National Sports Authority (NSA) in collaboration with the Aurub Global Partners (AGP) on Friday launched the maiden edition of the Matchday Booklet.

The booklet would provide vital and detail information on a matchday’s activities, an innovation expected to create excitement and a new experience around sports events in the country.

The first edition of the booklet focuses on the Black Stars and their upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Chad and Mali in Accra.

Addressing guests at the launch, Dr Steven Blessing Ackah, Executive Director, AGP, said the Matchday Booklet would provide a platform where sports meets business.

He said although over 52 sports federations are captured by the NSA, data availability remains a challenge, a situation he said makes it difficult to reach the corporate players.

“There must be a platform where business meets sports and the Matchday Booklet provides that. In this booklet, every information about an activity is captured to excite the fans. This will create a whole new experience to the fans especially,” he added.

According to Dr Ackah, the first edition would focus on the Black Stars and the upcoming matches and reminded that the novelty was for all sports.

He further indicated that since AGP belongs to a global platform, activities and information provided on the booklets can be assessed globally and in a way, give local activities an international appeal.

Dr Ackah again stated that these booklets can be digitally assessed or be made available to fans in its physical form and urged the sports federations to embrace the idea to improve sports promotion and organisation.

The Director General of the NSA, Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, on his part welcomed the initiative, describing it as a game-changer and the beginning of something special on the sports reset agenda.

He disclosed that the Matchday Booklet was a regular feature with events in stadiums across the world and would go a long way to market both clubs and activities of the sports federation.

“The first edition is for the Black Stars but the template would accommodate sports in general. This is surely how we should go in making sports more professional and easy to market,” he added.

Mr Kwabena Otchere Darko-Mensah, Member of Parliament for the Takoradi Constituency in the Western Region, applauded the novelty and urged the sports administrators to open up to it to develop sports in the country.

“Many a time, people are in a haste to shoot down such initiatives instead of weighing the positives and negatives about it. Let’s have a change of mind. This is a big potential for the sports sector so I encourage you all to support it wholeheartedly,” he added.

In attendance were presidents and secretary generals of the respective sports federations and other guests.
