President Mahama receives Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah Africa Leadership Award

President Mahama has been honoured with Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah Africa Leadership Award, for initiating and implementing a transformational programme that is resetting all sectors of Ghana.

The award is also in recognition of his sterling record of achievements that is in tune with the vision and programmes of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President.

The West Africa International Press (WAI-Press), in collaboration with Nkrumah Vision Alive Movement, founded by Dr Dee Otibu-Asare, Chief Executive Officer of WAI-Press, presented the award to President Mahama at the Jubilee House, Accra, on Wednesday.

The citation by WAI-Press noted that, “President John DramaniMahama’s return to the highest office of Ghana has brought joy and hope, particularly to the youth, seeking solutions to challenges confronting them and country.”

The WAI-Press said President Mahama with a paragon of honesty, integrity and dedication to his duties, has been able to sail through the complex Ghanaian political landscape.

The sparkling qualities have not only made him a trustworthy, wise, and respected Ghanaian statesman, but also a revered international icon, according to the WAI-Press.

The citation added “Just like OsagyefoDr Nkrumah, President Mahama’s focus is on self-reliance, industrialisation, education, employment, health, agriculture and general wellbeing of his people.”

The WAI-Press praised President Mahama, saying that “for taking steps to improve the economy, fiscal stability and discipline, thereby raising the country’s credit rating from B+ to B2, increasing foreign investment inflows, stabilising the cedi against foreign currencies, and enhanced GDP.”

The citation also noted that in what could be likened to the Nkrumah Seven-Year Development Plan, President Mahama is rolling out the “Big Push”, to accelerate infrastructure development for job creation, and completion of abandoned and uncompleted projects.

The WAI-Press further added that President Mahama’s foreign policy is akin to that of Dr Nkrumah, who stood for continental unity, and the struggle for the independence of other African countries, including Namibia, South Africa and Guinea.

The citation cited that President Mahama’s role to bring back Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger back to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), is a major step in enhancing international diplomacy.

Again, the WAI-Press noted that the ECOWAS has unanimously approved President as the West African candidate for the African Union (AU) Chairman, for his enormous contributions to Africa and the world.

Other notable personalities have already been presented with the prestigious award that was organised for politicians, technocrats, captains of industry, entrepreneurs and academicians with track record of outstanding achievements, last year.

They included President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traorẻ, Professor Paul Kofi Fynn, founder and Chancellor of Wisconsin University College, and Dr Yaw AnokyeFrimpong, a renowned lawyer and historian.
