Swedru All Blacks destined for GPL return – Rudolf Mensah

Swedru All Blacks Football Club striker, Rudolf Mensah, has stated that the club was destined to qualify to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) this season after several years in the lower tier of the game.

All Blacks made its return to the Ghanaian top flight after a 16-year hiatus, thanks to a 3-0 win over New Edubiase in the Access Bank Division One Zone Two.

Speaking after the game, Mensah, who had a brilliant debut campaign with the Swedru outfit after scoring 24 goals in 25 games, was adamant that the club’s promotion was something destined.

“It’s great to be part of history, to be able to lead Swedru All Blacks after 16 years, back into the Ghana Premier League. We are highly elated, we are feeling good. We knew that we were destined for the Premier League… the feeling is great, the euphoria around here is quite massive so we thank God for that” Rudolf Mensah said.

According to the striker, Mensah, his target for the club this season was to score over 30 goals.

Mensah pointed to the club’s qualification as something that was destined and added that his 24 goal output in 25 league games with just a game left to be played fell short of his expectation of scoring at least 30 goals.

“By the grace of God, I have 24 goals and I am leading the goal king chart. Personally, my target was to score 30 and over but I think sometimes you win some, you lose some, and sometimes you miss certain chances. We are still on course, it’s left with one game, let’s see what God will give to us” Mensah added.
