Aduana’s Mudasiru targets double glory
Heavily-built forward Abdul Manaf Mudasiru, is confident of winning the MTN-FA Cup competition with Aduana Stars, this term.
He also has an eye fixed on the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title.
“We’ve been strong in the campaign and I have no doubt in mind that we’re in great position to clinch the FA Cup.”
Mudasiru put up a massive performance on Sunday and inspired Aduana to the last-eight of an MTN-FA Cup competition they are itching to win for the very first time.
The former Accra Great Olympics goal-getter scored the crucial solitary goal that eliminated Berekum Chelsea from the campaign at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, winning a lot of plaudits for his effort on the afternoon.
It was a goal of class, by all standards.
Using his hefty frame to advantage, the 27-year-old bulky striker sprinted pass his markers and delightfully latched on to a cross before letting go a thunderbolt that left the Chelsea goalkeeper marooned to secure qualification for the ‘Ogyaa Boys.’
“I was really thrilled scoring that goal and I hope to be motivated by it to do more for the club,” Mudasiru told the Times Sports yesterday.
The buoyant forward was also cautiously optimistic with regard to upstaging Asante Kotoko to win their third Ghana Premier League (GPL) – after the glories of 2010 and 2017.
Aduana are joint-second on 37 points with Bechem United – eight points adrift leaders Kotoko.
“Our target is to win the league but we’re going to take it game after game and if Kotoko should make mistakes on the way, we are going to take our chances to win the league,” he asserted.
According to Mudasiru, he was given a warm reception by Aduana after joining them “and I feel much at home.”
“I was received very well and am very happy to join the Aduana family.”
He urged his teeming fans to keep supporting him “because the best was yet to come.”
Nicknamed Lukaku (after Belgian international and Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku), Mudasiru initialed a two-year deal with Aduana, ending his 2020/2021 romance with Great Olympics, where he banged home four goals in a number of games.
Mudasiru has previously featured for Dreams FC and Agbozome Weavers.
