All set for Ako-Adjei Community Gala
This year’s edition of the Ako-Adjei Community Football Gala competition will come off between December 6-8 at the Osu Ako Adjei Park.
Dubbed “Aponkye Cup” 2019, this year’s edition will bring together eight cracked sides from the community to battle for honours.
At stake will be a giant trophy donated by the aspiring assemblyman for the Ako-Adjei electoral area, Sidney Tetteh Agorvor-Otchie, aka Mr Tee.
In addition to that, there would be an undisclosed cash amount for the winners and runners-up plus medals.
There would also be a scouting team around to select outstanding players who are unattached and give them opportunities to have trials with some selected clubs in the country for a potential engagement.
Put together by the sports committee of the area in collaboration with Mr Agorvor-Otchie, the straight knockout competition will have Purple Pub FC take on Nyaniba Stars in the opening game; Auto Clinic/Stars Mec will engage Obama Boys with Sunday United and Kalamazoo Stars squaring off, whilst Ako Adjei K.F Stars lock horns with Reff/Air Con International.
The two finalists will face off in the finals on Sunday, December 8 at 3pm.
According to Mr Agorvor-Otchie, sports and for that matter football are the hub of the community life and a major factor for development which provides economic growth through business, investment, employment as well as contributes to a higher level of discipline and a healthy lifestyle of community members.
He disclosed that there would be a weightlifting competition on December 14 at the Nyaniba Park at 2 pm to be followed by a health walk the next day at 3pm all in a bid to rally support for his campaign.
