Ayisah wins 89th Ghana Open Golf Championship

 Lucky Ayisah of the Achimota Golf Club at the weekend emerged winner of the professional cate­gory of the 89th edition of the Ghana Open Golf champion­ship held at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.

The four-day tournament played over a total of 72 holes, saw Lucky Ayisah emerge victorious with a gross score of 278, beating Emos Korblah who finished with 279, by a single stroke.

Daniel Affum and Vincent Torgah came in joint third with 284 score while Zimbabwean Nyasha Muyambo came fifth with a score of 289.

A total of 39 profession­al golfers from Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Senegal participated in the tournament.

In the amateur category, Kingsley Afful clinched the title with a gross score of 227. He was closely followed by Daniel Asamani, who finished with a gross score of 234. Edward Dane Donton and Daniel Ntim were tied with a gross score of 235, however Donton ended up in third place on countback.

In the seniors’ category for professionals, Kwame Korsah won with a gross score of 157 after completing 36 holes. He was followed by James Larry with a gross score of 162 and Kwaku Effah Poku in third place with a score of 165.

In the Support Ladies’ cate­gory, Emelia Flynt, playing off a handicap of 30, topped the lead­erboard with 43 stableford points. Romina Alviz, also with a hand­icap of 30, came in second with 40 stableford points, while Adiatu Tiamiyu, playing off a handicap of 27, finished third with a score of 40 stableford points as well.

For Support Men Group A, Ben Blay Ofosu-Barko (handicap 21) finished first with 41 points, followed by Anthony Appiah (handicap 20), who also scored 41 points. Barima Osei Kwadwo II (handicap 14) took third place with 30 stableford points.

In Group B, Baffour Kwame Kusi II (handicap 23) led with 43 stableford points, followed by Anthony Kwabena Turkson (handicap 22) with 39 points and Nathan Annobi (handicap 24) who finished with 38 points.
